WHERE DID WE GO?

HumpNBump 2023

Desert Wranglers was represented at HumpNBump this year with Patti Z leading the Ladies Only RockN the Narrows trail. The event had great weather, massive turnout, huge prizes, and the best people anyone could ask for. Hope to see you next year. Remember to volunteer early to get a spot as a lead or tail during the event! NOV 7-10 2024

Sedona and Badge of Honor Trail Schnebly Hill

Schnebly Hill is a Badge of Honor trail in Sedona, AZ. Greg Jaworski led a group of 16 Jeeps to successfully complete Schnebly Hill to earn the prestigious and official “Jeep Badge of Honor”. They also completed the very popular must do trail, Broken Arrow. The Pink Jeeps were out in droves that day. Don’t worry if you missed it. DWJC will definitely do Sedona again!

101 Classroom Event at Chapman

The Club had another successful 101 classroom training hosted by Chapman in Henderson in December with over 20 participants. Our next 101 classroom training is scheduled for Saturday January 27th 2024 for the Desert National Wildlife Refuge at one of their facilities. Stay tuned for details.

IN 2023 WE HAD 119 EVENTS!

Considering that our Desert Wranglers Jeep Club is only one and a half years old by the end of 2023 – I believe that we have a lot to be proud of!

Here is a brief recap of what we have accomplished during this past year, Jan thru Dec 2023.

  • Desert Wranglers has grown to approximately 375 Active club members.

  • Our Facebook discussion group shows nearly 1500 followers.

  • During the past 12 months, we scheduled over 119 events on Meetup – including trail runs, social events (bonfires, BBQ’s, beach parties), meetings, and educational classes. That definitely makes us the most active jeep club in Nevada!

  • In addition to our local trail runs, Desert Wranglers hosted some multi-day excursions to: Monument Valley, Capitol Reef, Death Valley, Kanab, and Duck Creek.

  • We directly supported our local community, with cash donations to

    • East Mojave Heritage Trail

    • Desert National Wildlife Refuge

    • and SNORR.

  • Desert Wranglers invited the public to attend our two free introductory lectures on Off Roading Basics, and has a third class scheduled next month for the Desert National Wildlife Refuge.

  • Our library of educational articles – available to browse free on our website – continues to expand; and draws readers from all over the country.

Our cadre of Trail Leaders, Tails, and Mids is increasing. This year we added new Trail Leaders: Jackie Smiley, Jack Ross, Fred & Gaye Ginsburg, Eric Nix, and Kirk Rowe. Or existing Trail Leaders list includes Keith Merrill, Patti & Steve Zapparolli, Brian Solomon, Bill Inglehart, and Greg Jaworski. But we still need more volunteers.

As many of our core members have improved their off-road skills along with upgrading their vehicles – we are seeing a wider variety of trail run difficulties being offered. Our runs have ranged from easy 2’s on up to more challenging 5’s. My club philosophy is to offer something for everyone’s interests. We have enough members that we can schedule Beginners Training Runs, Scenic, Intermediate, Night Runs, and even some crawling.

Thank You for making Desert Wranglers what it is today! It is not only a club; it is OUR club. We are independent and all volunteer – and we need more people to step up and become actively involved. Our Leadership Team is open to anyone; you don’t need to be elected, just raise your hand!
